The Ottawa Senators appear to be back at Square 1 in the Dany Heatley saga.  A trade proposed earlier this week that would have seen the disgruntled left-winger dealt to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for three players is off the table, at least for now, Senators GM Bryan Murray said Thursday, after having to pay Heatley a $4-million signing bonus.

Hockey Canada announced on Thursday the roster of 46 players that will attend Canada’s National Men’s Team orientation camp from August 24-27 in Calgary.  These 46 players have been identified as candidates for upcoming international events in the 2009-10 season: the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and 2010 IIHF World Championship.

Nik Antropov has cashed in with the Atlanta Thrashers. The big centre signed a US$16-million, four-year contract with the Thrashers, joining his third different team since March.

Venus and Serena Williams won in contrasting fashion Thursday to set up their fourth all-sister Wimbledon final and eighth meeting in a Grand Slam title match. In Doubles Action, Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic will get the chance to defend their Wimbledon doubles title after reaching their second straight final.
