The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired outfielder Anthony Gose from the Houston Astros in exchange for first baseman Brett Wallace. Gose was acquired by the Astros earlier Thursday from the Philadelphia Phillies.

Roy Oswalt is going to pitch for the Philadelphia Phillies. The ace approved a trade that moved him from the Houston Astros to Philadelphia. The Phillies sent pitcher J.A. Happ and prospects Anthony Gose and Jonathan Villar to the Astros. Gose was then shipped to the Jays for first baseman Brett Wallace.

The San Diego Padres acquired veteran infielder Miguel Tejada in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday, according to multiple sources.  In return, the Orioles would receive right-handed starting pitching prospect Wynn Pelzer and cash.  In 97 games with Baltimore in 2010, Tejada hit .269 with seven home runs and 39 RBI.

The Baltimore Orioles have hired Buck Showalter to be their manager. Showalter's first game will be Tuesday night at Camden Yards against the Los Angeles Angels. Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail confirmed the hiring on Thursday.

Rookie right-hander Stephen Strasburg has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Washington Nationals because of inflammation in his pitching shoulder. Thursday's move is retroactive to July 22, a day after he made his last appearance.
